Timeline
From the horse and cart to an online delivery service that champions local, Creamline has seen many a change over its 75 years
-
Creamline Dairies is founded by Peter Roe, supplying businesses in Trafford Park and Worsley with milk.
-
Recognising the potential in the growing doorstep delivery market, Peter began canvassing furiously and for many years Creamline was a successful doorstep delivery company.
-
When Peter Roe decided to sell the business in 1994, Anthony Swallow saw it as a great opportunity to get back into an industry he was passionate about, and to involve the next generation, having previously held the title of Managing Director of Didsbury based Heald’s Dairies.
Anthony, now chairman of Creamline Dairies, is joined by son Chris Swallow, from Sainsburys, and son-in-law Rob Purvis, from Unilever, as joint Managing Directors of Creamline Dairies.
-
Creamline becomes one of the leading independent dairy companies in the UK, acquiring the North West local delivery business of Dairy Crest.
-
Creamline’s online platform is launched, allowing customers to choose the products they need from the comfort of their home - transforming Creamline from a relatively traditional doorstep delivery service to an online convenience store.
-
A new venture: launching market-fresh fruit & veg deliveries from Manchester’s Smithfield Market, Creamline expands its online service.
-
On the back of the successful fruit & veg delivery service, Creamline launches new ‘Best of Local’ range, championing local independent shops within Greater Manchester, by offering customers fresh meat, bread, and deli items – as well as ever-popular fruit & veg, delivered to the doorstep. A fish range soon follows, with Creamline teaming up with local fishmongers to offer fabulously fresh produce.
