5 things to do this bank holiday weekend in Manchester

With the long weekend just around the corner, there's really no better time to take in all the joys that Manchester has to offer.

Whether you’re planning to take a wholesome family stroll, check out some live music, or peruse the city’s delightful local markets, here’s our guide to the best things to do this May bank holiday right here in Manchester – especially useful for the days that the weather might not quite permit a BBQ!

Come and visit us at West Didsbury Makers Market

The Makers Market brings together independent artisans, makers, performers and businesses to put on a host of wonderful, local monthly markets.

We’ll have our very own stall at the West Didsbury market this Sunday, so make sure you drop by and say hello to our lovely team. Even if the weather brings some rain, we’ll be sure to bring a bit of Creamline sunshine to your day!

The event will take place at Withington Hospital Car Park, M20 2LR, and will run from 11am to 4pm.

Explore the city’s vibrant music scene at Manchester Jazz Festival

First starting in the summer of 1996, Manchester’s longest running annual festival has grown to feature hundreds of musicians across a wide variety of events every year.

There are plenty of shows to get involved in for the festival’s closing weekend – with a mixture of free and ticketed options – so make sure to come along and get a taste of Manchester’s world-famous music scene.

Why not treat yourself to our delicious breakfast range to start the day – it’s just as delicious indoors as it is outside, so there’s no need to worry about the Manchester weather dampening your spirits!

Foodie heaven at Bury Food and Drink Festival

Looking for some more market fun this weekend? Bury Food and Drink Festival should absolutely be on your radar!

Just a short trip out of the city, this festival is known for its eclectic selection of artisanal food and drink, market and crafts stalls, live music and entertainment.

The festival will take place all over Bury Town Centre from May 23 to 25.

Take a step back and marvel at The Manchester Flower Festival

The Manchester Flower Festival is back in full bloom this late May bank holiday weekend - and it's sure to bring a shedload of vibrant colour to the city!

From May 24 to 27, visitors can enjoy an array of beautiful flowers and greenery all over the city center of Manchester. Places like Exchange Square, New Cathedral Street, St Ann’s Square, King Street, and Manchester Arndale will all be getting in the botanical spirit!

Take a stroll along Castlefield Viaduct

This Victorian-era steel viaduct has been transformed into a temporary green ‘sky garden’, right in the heart of Manchester. With a sunnier forecast for Saturday, it’s the perfect spot for a family day out – and our summer picnic range will be sure to go down a treat!

If you’re looking to get immersed in a little slice of nature without leaving the city this bank holiday weekend, then this is the place for you!
