A note about poly-bottled milk cap changes
Soon, when you pick up your plastic poly-bottled milk off your doorstep, you’ll notice something different – the colour of the cap! In the coming weeks, as stocks of our current coloured caps diminish, we will gradually phase in new clear caps, which are easier to recycle. We’ve updated the photos on our poly-bottled milk product listings, so you can see how your milk will now look – simply click here to view.
This phased change will only apply to our poly bottles. Our glass milk bottles will retain their coloured foil caps as these are easily recyclable.
Why are we making this change?
We are transitioning from our coloured plastic milk caps (red, green and blue) to clear caps because they’re easier to recycle into food-grade packaging. Clear caps contain recyclable high-density polythene, which means they can be easily recycled into milk bottles.
We’re making this change, like a number of dairy suppliers, to join the efforts in using less virgin plastic and more recycled material. It’s a small step, but one that helps make our poly-bottled milk packaging more circular, which means it can be recycled again and again.
This might take a little getting used to, but the labels on our bottles will still be clearly coloured as usual, to help you easily recognise your milk – whether it’s whole, semi-skimmed or skimmed.
