Plum galette

A crafty plum recipe list wouldn’t be complete without the classic French galette – perhaps the quintessential seasonal cake which has you putting your autumn fruits to best use.

There’s an abundance of mouth-watering galette recipes out there, but we’ve called on Simply Recipes for its simplicity (and its beautiful arrangement of plums!). This recipe tosses plum slices with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice and zest and instant tapioca to achieve a naturally sweet taste.

The galette has a long history. One of the oldest findings dates the cake all the way to 1311. Coming forward over 400 years to the time of the French Revolution, the galette cake, also known as the ‘King Cake’, was renamed the ‘Galette of Equality’ in line with the collapse of France’s monarchy.

Plum tarte tatin

If you love plums the right way round, you’ll also love them upside down! Faiza Hayani Bellili at The Hubb Community Kitchen draws on a recipe her mum used to make in her homeland, Algeria. The Hubb Community Kitchen champions cooking as a way to bring us together, which is certainly something we celebrate at Creamline. This delicious recipe serves 8-10 and you can find it here.
