Flippin’ heck, it’s Shrove Tuesday again!
The weeks are flying by – if you
can’t believe it’s almost Pancake Day already, you’re not the only one! Perfect
timing to help us warm up after a chilly few days (thanks to Storm Darcy), it’s
time to stock up on your toppings and get your best flipping pan at the ready.
Make sure your pancakes stack up
The traditional pancake recipe
couldn’t be simpler – plain flour,
eggs and milk are all you need for the
basic crêpe-style treat. If you fancy going all out with a stack of fluffy
American pancakes, you’ll need a little baking power and butter too.
If you want to know our top tried
and tested tips for the perfect pancake, read on…
- After you’ve mixed your batter,
fridge it for at least an hour – ideal for the lightest of crêpes!
- If you’re a flipper, don’t be tempted
to flip too early! We recommend waiting until the edges are brown and your
pancake no longer looks shiny.
- Remember, the first pancake is
never perfect – think of it as a tester to check the heat of your pan and your
batter quantity.
- Finally, our top tip for American
pancakes? Try swapping ordinary milk for buttermilk to enjoy extra fluffy
stacks.
The final flourish (with a
little help from Creamline)
Now you’ve perfected your pancake
stack, it’s time to get topping! We’ve got it covered, from fresh banana
and strawberries
to classic sugar
and lemon.
If you fancy a savoury twist,
cheese and ham is the perfect pairing – why not try a grating of Cheshire Cheese Co’s finest?
Finally, for the ultimate all
American breakfast feast, you can’t go wrong with bacon and maple syrup - we
recommend Little Pigs Dids’ delicious smoked
streaky bacon.
Happy flipping!
